Subitising is the ability to recognise the number of objects without actually counting them. Practising subitising with your child helps them to build up visual images for numbers, which in turn will help them to learn number facts. It also helps save time for the children and helps them to develop more complex number and counting skills later.
Start with subitising to 5 until your child is really confident and then move onto subitising to 10.
