Dosbarth Mr. Barnes

Thank you for visiting our class page. Here you can find information about the class.

Friday 16th July

This is not the way we planned to end the year! However, I want to congratulate the children on a fantastic year in very difficult circumstances. The resilience and perseverance everyone has demonstrated has been remarkable and I am very proud of them all, as I am sure you are. Up until Thursday lunchtime we had an enjoyable final week in school.

I want to wish Year 6 all the very best for their time in high school and beyond. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching them and only regret that it was not for longer. Similarly, Year 5 have been a pleasure to teach, and I am looking forward to seeing them in Year 6.

Finally, thank you for all your support this year and for the lovely gifts. It was such a shame not being able to invite you into school as normal this year, and particularly Year 6 parents to see the Leavers’ Service on Wednesday. The children did a wonderful job of it and it was lovely to hear their memories and ambitions. A link to an unlisted YouTube playlist containing a video of the Leavers’ Service, photographs of the children’s time in school and the children discussing their memories will be sent out directly. Please share the link with family and friends but not publicly.

Have a wonderful summer break!

Outdoor Learning

PE and Outdoor Learning

Children will take part in PE lessons each Tuesday and Friday. At present, children are not to bring a PE kit to school to change into. Instead, they should have suitable clothes and footwear for outdoors and physical activity each day.

Outdoor learning sessions will take place frequently; you will be advised when our class has outdoor learning. Depending on the weather, children may need to bring additional layers of clothing and footwear for this.

At times, homework will be set on Google Classroom. The purpose of homework is to support or reinforce class learning. The most effective type of homework children should be undertaking at home is regular practice of reading and multiplication facts. Regular practice  of both will support children's learning more than anything else, even for those who are already very proficient. It is expected that children read regularly at home: at least five separate occasions each week. In addition, children need regular practice of multiplication facts through games, reciting, quizzes and access to TT Rockstars. More information about TT Rockstars and logging reading using Google Clasroom is given below.

Reading Record - Google Classroom

View the video to see how you can log your reading using Google Classroom. Once children are logged in to Google Classroom, they will be able to keep a record of their reading on any device that accesses the Internet.

Each reading session that is logged will be added to a spreadsheet which will be shared with parents via email for an overview of reading.

TT Rockstars

Pupils should log in to TT Rockstars using the same log in details that they use for Hwb. These can be found on children's digital passports.

For school, type: Minera Aided Primary School

The username is the first part of the hwb email address - that is, the part before

The password is the same as children use for Hwb and is case sensitive.
