  • Critical Worker Provision

Mon 25 Jan 2021 Mr Williams

    Dear Parent/Carers,

As a school we are more than happy to provide a Critical Worker Provision for those parents who are providing front line services in the fight against Covid-19.

It has been made clear from Welsh Government, Wrexham Council and school that this provision is to be used as last resort.

Clearly, there will be times when as key worker who works shifts that you will need sleep through the days, this is not a problem. We wouldn’t expect you to children at home under those circumstances, this is what the Critical Worker Provision is for!

However, there are times when both parents are at home and there is no need to send children to school. We need to keep numbers of children attending to a minimum to protect other pupils and staff.

As lockdown drags on and children and parents struggle with the prospect of home learning, parents working from home and the general restriction on our movement, more and more parents are attempting to send children to school. This is not the purpose of the Critical Worker Provision.

This is an unbelievably difficult period in time and home schooling is proving difficulty for many of you who have more than one child at home, we appreciate this, we really do!

However, please do not send your children to school if you have an alternative option. The best place to keep your child safe is at home, it is also the best place for children that genuinely need to be in school, so keeping the numbers low we are protecting everyone. Keep these pupils and staff safe by keeping your child at home if you have the option.

If you wish to book a place, you must have a Critical Care Employer Form completed by your line manager. Booking Forms and Critical Care Employer Form are available fromwww.mineraprimary.comor emailheadteacher@minera-pri.wrexham.sch.uk.

    Take care and stay safe,

    Mr Williams

  • IMPORTANT - School Update 8th January 2021

Fri 08 Jan 2021 Mr Williams

I hope you are all keeping safe and well in these continuing uncertain times?

It has been announced by the Welsh Government, that schools will stay closed to most pupils until February half term unless there is a significant fall in Covid-19 cases.

This situation will be reviewed on 29th January. If cases do not drop, schools in Wales would re-open on 22nd February at the earliest.  This will be reviewed every three weeks.

At Minera School, online learning will continue for most pupils but we will remain open for vulnerable and critical worker children.

Parents should carefully consider the use of such provision when alternative childcare is available at home.Welsh Government guidance is that people should not leave home unless they absolutely need to. In our opinion, this means that children should not come to school unless absolutely necessary.

    Take care and stay safe,

  • Critical Care Worker Arrangements for Next Week

Tue 05 Jan 2021 Mr Williams

    Dear all,

Yesterday, it was announced that all schools in Wales will continue with online learning at least until Monday 18th January amid concerns about the rise in Covid-19 cases in Wales.

Minera School will remain to be open for vulnerable and critical worker children from 9am to 3pm everyday. If you are a critical worker, and you are unable to make alternative arrangements therefore requiring this provision for the week beginning Monday 11th January, you will need to complete the following online form by 9am Wednesday 6th January (Tomorrow).

If there is someone who can look after your child rather than sending them to school, that is the safer option.

Link for form: Critical Worker Childcare Form - w/b 11th Jan

Unfortunately, due to lack of numbers, we will be unable to run Minera Kidz Klub until the school fully re-opens. I appreciate this may cause inconvenience for some families.

This is a fast changing situation and I appreciate that this is short notice but we are only finding out information at the same time as you.

Thank you for your continue support,

    Mr Williams

    Headteacher
